We recently had a brief conversation with An Trotter, Senior Director of Operations, Office of General Counsel at Hearst Corporation, to kick off our CLOC 2018 interview series.
What has your legal department aced in the last 12 months?
I only started at Hearst 3 months ago, but in 3 months, we’ve gotten an implementation back on track, evaluated tools in 3 additional categories and named finalists, as well as piloted Priori, so I think we’re off to a solid start!
What innovation do you think will make the biggest impact on legal operations in the next 5 years?
The intersect in the Venn diagram where advances in artificial intelligence or “smart algorithms” and changes in legal services delivery models overlap.
Why did your department decide to use Priori, and what has your experience been?
Hearst Office of General Counsel was looking for overflow coverage on several types of commercial and corporate contracts. The Priori Team was super helpful in orienting us to the platform and responsive to our business requirements in recommending qualified candidates. The user interface for reviewing potential attorneys is personable and engaging and made it easy for us to follow-up with finalist candidates.
