Tell us about your role as Research Director of Breaking Media. What does that mean on a day-to-day basis?
Breaking Media publishes eight industry-focused sites, including Above the Law, the world's most widely read site among lawyers and law students. Part of my job is to ask this audience questions that are of interest to our readership and/or companies that cater to them.
What do you think is the most significant trend occurring within the legal industry at the moment?
Broadly speaking, legal education is disconnected from reality. Thankfully, within and without, there are a lot of smart people on the job.
What has most surprised you in the emergence of legal operations as a field?
I assumed it would be more boring.
Does technology make you optimistic about the future of the legal profession? Why?
I don't really care about the "legal profession" just perpetuating itself as some sort of scribe guild. I do care about the rule of law and access to justice, and technology gives us reason for some hope on both counts.
